I beloved how this eye-catching little metropolis packed in a lot character — from its classic downtown and scenic mountain backdrop to its fashionable breweries, indie boutiques, and recent, domestically sourced delicacies.

Established in 1872, it sat atop a volcanic hotspot, giving rise to surreal geothermal options, gushing geysers, travertine terraces, sizzling springs, dramatic canyons, alpine meadows, clear glowing lakes, and roaring waterfalls — all framed by huge mountain ranges and winding rivers!
