Throughout my keep, I marvelled on the iconic blue tower of its Baroque abbey, hiked as much as the well-known historic Dürnstein fortress, and located charming retailers, and comfortable wine taverns to spend time in.

My private highlights…

• Sampling wine on the family-run Weingut Bohmer vineyard – I beloved their distinctive citrusy Sauvignon Blanc which I discovered was cultivated within the Frauengärten winery, it was severely scrumptious!
• Eating on the rustic-chic restaurant Küffer Keller – I beloved the Mediterranean-like backyard, the aroma from the big charcoal grill, the all you’ll be able to eat salad bar and my dish of foraged portobello mushrooms which had been grilled with regionally grown herbs.
