Writers win awards for OOD


Ontario OUT of DOORS Assistant Editor Steve Galea and contributor Jason Forde had been among the many successful writers because the Skilled Out of doors Media Affiliation of Canada (POMAC) introduced its 2025 award winners on Thursday, June 12.

In Nationwide Communication Awards, Galea gained third place within the Column class for his My Outdoor instalment, “Legendary creatures,” within the August 2024 situation, and third place within the Looking Characteristic class for “The state of coyotes” within the Jan.-Feb.2024 situation.

Forde gained second place within the first Editor’s Selection Award for “Vacation spot Maitland” from the Fall 2024 situation.

OOD Editor/Affiliate Writer Ray Blades appreciated the popularity. “It’s rewarding to see a few of our unbelievable writers being acknowledged for his or her work by their friends on a nationwide stage,” he stated.

OOD contributor Linda Gabris additionally gained first place for “Wild Harvest BC” within the Books class.

Greater than 118 entries assessed

Judges evaluated 118 submissions in 11 classes, POMAC Awards Chair André Desrosiers said.

“Thanks to all the judges who volunteered so many hours to guage the submissions, and a really particular thanks to our sponsors, Tourism Saskatchewan, Shimano, Out of doors Group Media, and Delta Waterfowl,” he stated. “Help from our sponsors and the dedication of our judges continues to lift the bar for outside communications in Canada.”
